Sixth Verse,
June whistles, warbles in imitation of some bird, or gives the various bird calls, while gathering straw, leaves, and mud to build a nest. She also calls a rose, or flower here and there from the various children who represent rose bushes or plants in the ring.
Seventh Verse.
July is decorated with a flag and a picture of Washington. On his head he wears a red liberty cap and carries in one hand a flag and in the other a bell. He rings the bell while imitating the booming of a cannon.
Eighth Verse.
August buzzes like a bee and holds some color in her hand to represent some flower or fruit; as pink for clovers, yellow for golden rod, green for pears, and purple for plum.
Ninth Verse.
September is very busy cradling, and then stacking the sheaves of wheat; or he pretends to mow the grass wliieh he piles upon the wagon and drives to the barn.
Tenth Verse.
October goes through the motions of dropping leaves, nuts and apples. He also pretends to duck for apples in an imaginary tub to represent Hallowe'en.
Eleventh Verse.
November plays he is a big turkey and goes gobbling about in corners here and there, as if hiding away for fear of being caught for a Thanksgiving dinner; or he can go through the motions of eating turkey, pie and other goodies; he then pretends to fall asleep, only to awaken with siidis and groans as if having eaten too much dinner, lie can also hold in his hand a Jack o' Lantern, or wear a cap made of the half of a pumpkin.
